Mandela Day

Get involved and make a difference this Mandela Day

You could ...

... paint a building. Or help a group of lively pre-schoolers paint colourful pictures and create works of art from play dough. Plant seedlings that in time will produce healthy carrots, onions, sweet potatoes for people who are starving. Or bring your own bag of veggies and cook up a delicious warming soup for 300 hungry kids.

These are just some of the activities taking place at our 11 Community Centres in Soweto, Alexandra, Kagiso and Kwa-Thema on Monday 18 July and we’re looking for enthusiastic community spirited people like you to join in.

If you can’t spare 67 minutes of your time to join in, please consider donating:

  • Interior PVA in white or cream, white ceiling paint, red, yellow and blue enamel to give our buildings a facelift
  • Kids’ paints, paintbrushes, scissors, crayons, glue and old magazines to keep our little ones happily occupied
  • Seeds, seedlings, garden forks, spades, watering cans and hosepipes for our community food gardens
  • Meat, veggies, rice etc for our soup kitchens.

And if you can’t do that – please consider
a monetary donation, made online now
in time for Mandela Day.

In whichever way you join in, your help is needed to make this our best Mandela Day ever and keep alive Madiba’s belief:

“A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.“
