Thank you for reaching out to our Pimville twins and other children in need!
When we first met twin brothers Kabelo and Keabetswe at our Pimville feeding centre, their cheerful demeanours and handsome faces melted our hearts.
And they’ve melted our donors’ hearts too! We were touched by the generous donations we received in response to our Christmas appeal for funding to support the twins and other children like them. Thank you!
The brothers are now 13 and live with their mother and two siblings in a small two-room shack in Kliptown. This family lives below the breadline – but the brothers never complain about the daily hardships they face.
There’s no doubt that having a peanut butter sandwich, glass of milk and fruit to look forward to at our Pimville feeding centre every day gives them reason to be happy. The boys also do their homework here and their teachers say their academics are much improved since they joined our feeding scheme.
The monthly food parcel that their mother picks up from us is another reason to hope. Each parcel contains essential items like maize meal, oats, beans and canned fish. At a cost of about R295, this food basket is beyond the means of their family.
It’s thanks to our donors that we can celebrate providing food parcels to 124 such families at Pimville each month – and to 1 200 families across all our feeding centres.
Despite the challenges of raising funds in a depressed economy – and stretching funds to go ever-further each month, we still manage to meet or exceed our targets.
Thank you, once again, to the selfless support of our donor community: companies and individuals who have sustained the ACFS’s activities over the past 71 years. We could not have done it without you.
