Mandela Day

Please join us on Mandela Day

Spend your 67 minutes on something really worthwhile ... bringing unexpected joy to children in need.

Plan now to visit one of our community centres on Tuesday 18 July – in Pimville, Jabavu, Naledi, Zola, Emndeni, Meadowlands or Alexandra – to help prepare and serve meals to the children.

Or you could help out in the community food gardens, helping to plant, weed and water seedlings that in time will produce healthy spinach, cabbages, onions and sweet potatoes for people who would otherwise go hungry.

We’re also looking for enthusiastic volunteers to give our Brixton head office a fresh coat of paint.

If you can’t spare 67 minutes of your time to join in, please consider donating:

  • Paint, paintbrushes, rollers and paint trays
  • Vegetable seeds, seedlings, compost, garden forks, spades, watering cans and hosepipes
  • Meat, veggies, rice etc for our soup kitchens

And if you can’t donate items – please consider making a cash donation towards them online now, in time for Mandela Day.

Whichever way you join in, please help keep the Mandela Day tradition of love and service alive, in honour of our beloved Madiba, who believed that: "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination."

For more information and directions to our various centres, please call 011 839 2630 or email Or click here to donate online.

Thank you for being part of Mandela Day 2017 at African Children's Feeding Scheme.
